Lauryn had a great time. We also got to go to a Baseball game this weekend. The Round Rock Express (minor league team for the Texas Rangers) won agains the Iowa Cubs!!! Yes -- all of my relatives in Ill, we beat the Cubs!!! HA!

She also got to go swimming and play with Winnie some more and see Lily. Winnie is now as big as Lily! Can you believe it?

Hugh measured her back legs and said they were 26 inches! She is getting big so fast.

Lauryn spent the day with her cousin Maddie today. You might want to check Jessica's blog, I am not sure if there are any pictures. Her blog is: allabouttheblanchards.blogspot.com

Bare Back Horse Riding

Today (Friday) is Lauryn's last day of Horse Camp. :( I got to take her and watch for a bit this morning. She rode Bare Back today, although she will have to tell you which horse she rode.

This week she learned how to ride English, Western, and Bare Back unassisted!!! She can do all this on her own now, so watch out! Here are two videos of her riding.

Hope you like these :)

Horse Camp

Lauryn will be going to Horsemanship Camp this week. She went to her orientation today and got to meet another girl, Abby, who will be at camp with her. She also got to feed two of the horses, and feed another one. Here are two different ways to see the pictures.

Chairs like new

We (Missy the next door neighbor) and I went shopping this weekend, and FINALLY got fabric to recover the dinning room chairs. Take a look and let me know what you think of our handy work. Should we add slip covers to the tops now?

Little Lady Winston

Little Lady Winston is growing up so fast! This weekend she will be 4 months old, I can hardly believe it! She is already 50 pounds, I know I know only 49 at the vet on Sunday but I am sure she has gained at least a pound in 2 days, if not we might have a problem!

Here are her most recent picutres.

She sill loves to have her picture taken and poses for me, but these are in the yard when she was trying to run around like a wild animal!

Winnie Update

David took Winnie to the Vet today for her next set of shots and a check up. She is doing well and keeping up on her weight. She is up to 49 pounds now! And to think yesteday David told me she wasn't 50 pounds yet! Guess I was close enough. So I guess the next shirt we buy for her will have to be a lot bigger :)

Thoughts.....

So......during some "quiet" time with Winnie last night, while she was playing with a stick in the yard and I was sitting in the sun, I got to read for a bit. I quickly grabbed an old copy of Walden by Thoreau and started rereading the first few pages.

What struck me as interesting in this very old book (maybe 200 years?) was his perspective that all writers should write about their lives since that is what they know. He even goes so far as to tell his readers that eventhough most books are not written in first person most literature is written in first person point of view.

This made me think about how far we have truly come since Thoreau's days at Walden Pond. It seems like everyone has a blog today, and we all write at great length about what happened to us during the day, or the week. Of course, these are mostly written in first person.

I think Thoreau would be very proud of us and happy, BUT I still don't think he would fit in to today's society or culture. We live in a world where TV, Movies, the Internet, You Tube, and blogs have taken over. Compared with his world where people had to build their own homes, build or kill their own food, and make their own clothes.

But I digress, and this has become more of a diatribe than it was intended. For those of you who follow our blog, I certainly appreciate it. I love all the votes on the polls, and this seems like an amazing way of keeping in touch.

Hopefully you like our blog as much as I do, but if you have feedback please feel free to email me. I know you all have my email address.

In the meantime I look forward to keeping up with each of you via email and here.

New Lauryn Pics

Here is Lauryn's most recent school picture. It doesn't look like school picture, it was her spring photo. We hope you love this one.

25 Things about David

So I heard this wife on the radio today talking about her husband. So I thought I would try to "follow her lead" and come up with 25 things about David.

1. He is a FABULOUS father and husband (I should have used that as two things!)
2. He can sleep pretty much anytime
3. He loves to sleep in
4. He is very active (mountain bike / frisbee golf / road bike / etc)
5. He LOVES music
6. He is an amazing cook
7. He is good at his job although it is a challenge sometimes
8. Eventhough he is allergic to dogs he loves Winnie
9. He is very patient, even though he won't admit to it
10. He thinks dishes are clean when I don't
11. He is WAY into electronics
12. He will watch pretty much anything on TV (right now it is Operation Repo)
13. He really really REALLY wants his truck back
14. He tries very hard to keep Lauyrn and me happy
15. He needs peace and quiet at night or when he wants to sleep (dogs barking and now a Sicada in the tree is driving him crazy!)
16. He is extremly loyal
17. His is kind
18. He knows what is important to me and tries to make that important to him
19. He has a love - hate relationship with his blackberry
20. He loves Brickbreaker on his blackberry but hates the emails at 8:00 PM
21. He is looking forward to spending the summer with Lauryn
22. He loves his tools and outside gadgets
23. He snores
24. He is always hot
25. He actually liked dinner last night -- and I know for sure cause he had seconds!

I can't believe I did it!

Winnie wearing clothes

So in case you have not heard apparently Great Danes get cold in the winter so they need to wear clothes!!! I got Winnie her first shirt today :)

We wanted her to start wearing clothes now so she can get used to them. This is her new 4th of July shirt. She is still wearing it, and it has made it about an hour now, so I guess we are good to go.

I am not sure if you can see it, but this one is a Pink shirt from Old Navy with a US flag on it. This one is a childs XL already!

We are thinking of getting her a Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt for the fall!

Play Date with Baxter

Baxter and Jason came over on Friday night. I guess Winnie has gotten to big for Baxter, he just tried to hide under things or with the humans. At one point he even got under her and just stayed there, guess he figured out she couldn't get to him way down there! Here are a few pictures.

Lauryn's Graduation Program

Last week Lauryn had a program at school and Frankie took some pictures. Take a look at how amazing Lauryn is. Lauryn told us over Memorial Day weekend she wants to be a Pediatrican (I am not sure of the spelling!) She is dressed up like a doctor in the pictures.
